Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! I'm a little late in sharing wishes! We've been very busy this winter. And, so sadly, my riding dropped to about zero at the end. I want to thank RAC for a great time, and a fun program! It has been a blast, and I will have to try and work harder next time! Shine On, our youngest, will be starting his training in 2014. He will be 3 years old in August. He's already as big as Rescue Me, his mother. Clooney's work will go on, and I just recently got Philippe Karl CDs to work on new classical training methods, so I'm inspired.

At the end of October, we took a trip to visit horses we had sold, including a lot of our babies. We travelled from Bavaria where we visited four different owners all the way to northern Germany, above Brussels. It was wonderful to see them again, and they all recognized us. We didn't get to see all of the offspring of our horses, but many. I even got to ride one, our loving Geenie (sadly no image of me on board). And, I got to do ground work with Joe, a son of our stallion Billy Jack and the mare we imported from Montana, Montana Blue Magic. Magic we got to see also. She is retired, 24 years old and living in Bavaria.

Here's an image of Geenie before riding, and one of Joe while I'm working with him in his owner's roundpen. Geenie and Joe are from the first foals we bred, and left us at 8 months of age. They are now 8 years old. It was a very wonderful experience to see them, work with them, and see how well they are doing.

Good old, retired Magic.

Pharoa, a stallion from Billy Jack and Lark, in Bavaria.

Jomai, a gelding from Billy Jack and Warrior White Moon, in Bavaria.

Shine On wishes everyone Happy New Year!

  2. Thank you, Donna! We are looking forward to doing the trip again and catch up with the rest of the troops :). We even stopped by the Wolfs, who were one of our best customers as we imported many Curlies for them over the years, but Petra wasn't home! It was on our way down from northern Germany, and so as we had to drive by, we thought we would surprise her. She was in the Netherlands doing something up there (I forget what). Funny that! There we stood in front of their big wolf gate, looking into their camera and waving! :) It was a blast!

2014 is going to be a concentrated year for me. I'm looking forward to it. :) I'm catching up now, reading other's posts. You know, we are not the youngest anymore, and we do everything ourselves, so it's sometimes a lot and when the holidays come, I have to do mega thorough cleaning in November as Advent and Christmas are on the way, so basically, my riding shuts down. On the 1st of November that is All Saints Day, and we all go to the graves. At the end of November, begins Advent, and every Advent Sunday here in Austria is a celebration, lighting a new candle and having the mother-in-law over. It was terribly foggy in December, you couldn't even see your hand in front of your face, so it was a good excuse to get to working indoors on everything (you know, the fridge, scrubbing old wooden floors like on the deck of a ship, polishing all the wood items in the house and so on). I don't try to kill myself anymore by trying to be super woman :).

This goes up to Christmas, and then after Christmas is our St. Stephen's Day. St. Stephen's Day is on the 26th of December, and is the day which horses are blessed. We have an open house in honor of St. Stephen and let friend's and their children ride. There is usually Gluhwein and children's punch, cakes and cookies and we all usually retire indoors as it gets dark early, and have a nice meal. This year the weather was so warm, we decided to serve wine spritzers! :)

Then of course comes New Years, and after that there is a very special day in our town, that only our town celebrates. It is a bit like Halloween for adults on the 6th of January.

But, now it is all over (except for Carnival which is in March!) and so I can focus again. Yeah!
