First off, I'll let everyone know I have no pictures, but we have been working on the challenges and have accomplished a few more! I would have a camera man, but it's deer hunting season here and my husband is off to camp until December 1st! Must be nice!
I think Donna should get bonus points for accomplishing the parade, but Cork and I are trying to do what we can even with all the bad weather we're having. Right now it has been raining for 24 hours and tonight we expect high winds. I'm thinking it's remnants from the hurricane that hit the Phillipines, but what do I know? All I know is there is not a dry spot on our property and our county had flash flood warnings out earlier today.
Anyway, Cork and I have accomplished two more things, which is directing him around a barrel. Some of you may remember that last summer I taught Cork to go where I pointed, so after taking him around a couple of times and then pointing and telling him to go "Around," he totally understood what we were doing.
The next thing we've accomplished is backing up 30 steps without me touching him. He knew "Back," but I had never made him do it more than a couple of steps, so 30 is alot! While it took a couple of days, he finally mastered that one.
I've also gotten Willow out, and while we're working on basic groundwork, my big goal with her is to pay attention to me! While she's not as distracted as she was the first week, she still isn't totally paying attention to me like she should be.
I hope everyone is well and enjoying the month of challenges!
Janeen, Corky and Willow!
I for one know what horrible weather we have been having, so GOOD for you Janeen! It takes alot of motivation to get out when it's like it's been. Nasty and cold. Sounds like excellent progress with Cork...and I know Willow will come along!!
ReplyDeleteWay to brave the elements and get out there! It was miserable here yesterday and today is so windy I will have to go make sure Linus didn't blow away! Thanks for giving me some bonus points!!! That made me laugh! We may even do 2 more parades before Christmas. Willow will come along and be wonderful for you. Corky seems like such a pleaser, he just wants to do the right thing! That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteJaneen, as I told Donna, I think a person that trains their own horse has better contact on the average with their horse and works out with more trust between them, just keep up the good work in the mud, and have a ball, won't be long and everything will be frozen
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of what you trained Corky to do. GOOD FOR YOU! That is incredible.
ReplyDeleteSuper Janeen! I'm trying to get out there, the fog here is horrible, it is just above freezing, and it is mucky out there. But, I'm going to try and get some stuff on the list done. I often hibernate like a bear as the days are so short (we get dark now going of 4 p.m. up here) so it's hard to get everything done in the short light, but I'm going to have a go at it!
