Keri Janes
Keri's new easy boot gloves for moving fast over very stony rocky ground.
Had to snap a photo - they looked so much like the mary janes kids used to wear for dressing up. Keri even has her white anklets on ! :) Keri Janes :)
Since Keri's transition over to her barefoot trim, she experiences some tenderness on some of the back dirt roads, especially since the hurricane as they dumped so much sharp stones and shale to fill in the wash outs. We are still waiting for the concavity of her hoof to happen... slow but worth the wait.
Speaking of road repair and wash outs.... my road is still being worked on. The culvert washed out and for the past few weeks I have had a temporary one in place with half a road for access. No big deal -- but now they are here to put in a new, much bigger culvert. It will take more than one day - which in a way, is handy as you know I love any impromptu occasion for obstacle work. I took full advantage after my trail ride -- ground driving a few youngsters down and around the work site.
We are only a few days away from Vermont's peak foliage season and there is very little color. This ride was Monday... since that day we have had our first frost, although a light one. The people who drive up this year for the yearly fall 'leaf peeping' are going to be disappointed. Lots of the leaves have fallen off already - those that are remaining are not changing.
the trails look more like spring than fall don't you think ?
With all the rain we've had -- the ground is SQUISHY !
Today we rode to the top of the mountain on a different than usual route and came down the steep side -- to give Splash the opportunity to do some extreme rough downhill work. He did awesome of course.
Keri has grown quite fond of riding out with Splash as her trail buddy. I like it because it keeps Keri moving out with longer strides and a bit more effort -- keeps her in shape. Keri just turned 22 this spring and everyone compliments her on her level of fitness !!
And we are going to keep it like that. :)
I kind of delayed with my brief post as I hated to go above Liz's outstanding entry with those AMAZING photo's. What a team -- Liz and her boy !

Keri Janes - I love it! So cute. Are you still having trouble keeping them on when cantering? Now that I see a picture, I am wondering if the gaiters do not overlap enough to hold the velcro on, because on mine the velcro goes all the way across the "catch" strap.
ReplyDeleteI thought you might be having a "colorless" fall like us in Maine. You have to really hunt for the beautiful colors rather than having them assualt your eyes, but I can see them in your pictures. STill beautiful!
I love that horse shoes :) What model are you using? Meanwhile I have every size and really like to use them! Best Caren
ReplyDeleteVery cute title and so fitting! It looks like you are having some very nice fall days to ride yet as well. Enjoy them cause they will soon fade away....then we get the bad 4-letter word for the next several months :(
ReplyDeleteOur fall is not as stunning as usual either. Some are still green, the frost got a lot and then there are the odd flaming bright trees..we have a lot where only half or less is bright and the rest is green. Strange!
ReplyDeleteI really really hope Linus is as happy and healthy as Keri when he turns 22!!! She is such an awesome horse! Speaking of awesome horses, how is Nimue? : )
love those boots, have them for one of our quarterhorses with sore feet. Have fun on your trails its amazing as usual
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of the boot gloves, I hope they work well for you and that soon she will have no tendernes anynmore in her feet!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures also!
