Mud is Back!

We went from dust to mud and plenty of it in a matter of hours. It has actually worked well for Linus and I. He's having quite a growth spurt so we've just kept it with some easy groundwork. Its been enjoyable to get back to more of it.
Dad's horse Allie was beaten out of a barn for going in it too far. We've briefly had her in this summer but wanted to go all through it. Linus hasn't been in since last winter and that was just during bad weather. So we brought both horses up. We knew Linus would go in so Dad asked me to hang back so he could ask Allie to go on her own. She hesitated, Linus stepped up and nudged her and off she went. Our barn is set up for cattle. We run weanlings in for feeding and the rest is set up for calving. Its a scary barn for a horse. Some low entranceways and its u shaped. Both horses did great!
Linus is definitely the silent leader for them. He has made a big difference to her and her confidence. I often call him 'old man' because his temperament is always so easygoing like he's seen and done it all.
We took advantage of the high winds we've had recently to play with things that blow and flap in the wind. If I take too long to get to him to work or play he waits at the gate watching for me. Allie will get bored and go graze but he waits. Its nice to know he enjoys our time as much as we do.

  3. I saw the title and we are also having mud here! We had quite a bit of rain and even though the ground is sandy some parts are quite muddy!
