Lyle's Progress

Dear Reader,
Lyle continues to make good progress, Of course, we are still working on helping him to learn to always yield to the bit and to always move with impulsion. We are taking it slow and easy so that this new learning finds a secure home in his heart. But here is the really good news.....
Lyle is truly starting to feel back to me. This means that he is actually telling me how he wants to be ridden. Here is an example; When his front right leg starts to leave the ground, Lyle wants me to have a small amount of contact with the rein that is above that right leg, that is with the right rein. As this same legs starts to descend so that it will touch the ground, he wants that rein contact to be released. The same thing applies for the front left leg. I think that he wants to be sure that I am paying attention to him and "not just along for the ride." The result of this type of contact is that eventually Lyle will learn true collection. The really good news is that Lyle himself is now taking a helpful part in his own training. He is doing that by feeling back to me.
Thank you, Lyle. And thank you, Reader, for following this journey.
Sincerely,
Penny Johnson
