Hubby horse
Earlier this week, we brought home what is to be our "hubby horse" ....and perhaps a Grandson horse. Please welcome *Tekara ! *Tekara is a daughter of *DCC Traveler, out of a Paint ( QH X TB ) mare....this 3 year old filly has caught my husband's eye and heart. So, I begin the task of making this gal into a stellar mount. She has a couple months of light saddle training. So, we start at the beginning...it is FUN to have an RAC horse to work with...I have missed having things to post about. Legacy will be gone another month, so I have a good opportunity to start *Tekara on her journey. As with any "new to you" horse, we must find out what she does and does not know. I did find out, while working with her today, she is totally undazed by gun fire. Seems our neighbor was hunting, and the shot was pretty close...but *Tekaka never even batted one of those lovely curly eyelashes of hers! Now...water? that is another issue ...LOL...I noticed that *Tekara was not drinking from the creek. We offer free choice water, via our creek, and it seems she has not determined that she can get her feet wet....so, that is our next project ;-) get those feet wet!
After our grooming, blanket wear training, gun fire training and a bit of extra green grass, I took *Tekara to our outdoor arena and worked a bit on free lunging.
