Hello all, t may be 109 in Texas but it's never too hot to ride Curly horses. Here are a few photos of my friends, Clint, Mike, Tonya and my son Andrew.
Penny, Mike's mule Luther is a real sweetheart. We have been training him for the past few weeks and I think he is almost as smart as a Curly{:>
Dear Angie,
ReplyDeleteDid you know that both Norman Dills and Joe Mead bred curly mules? I met Joe's donkey stud when I stayed with Joe up in Sequim, WA. That was one smart donkey. His name was George./ He was a fancy French breed of donkey that had curly hair. He used to steal Ruby Red King's mares. He also used to out smart Ruby Red King all the time. You would have really like that jack because he was also people orientated and real nice to handle. This jack also used to out smart all of Joe's other curly horses, both geldings and studs. He did this every day. Joe would let the band of geldings and young bachelor studs up to the house to get water every day. George would follow them. The curly horses, after they had drunk, would make a big stud pile in the barn yard. George would wait until they had finished that project and were standing around admiring the pile. Then and only then would he go up and have the last poop. That would ruin, in the curly's mind the "work" that they had done. But George would literally laugh at them. He always got the last laugh.
Please tell Mike his mule looks real nice and pleasant.
Sincerely,
Penny Johnson
