Couldn't have asked for better weather than what we had lastnight. If it wasn't for having our Mounted Patrol Certifications lastnight I don't believe I would have rode due to the amount of rain we got over the weekend. It was just starting to dry out and now it feels like we are starting over again, and the water standing in the fields is un-real. 
Well for the birthday girl we did many obstacles and played lots of games. Not having ridden and prepared for this due to the weather, Marley did really really well! We had our equitation skills tested first, (walk, 
trot, lope on both leads, turn on the fore and rear, back, and side pass both directions) we need work on the turns and the side passing yet, not really pretty, but the attempt was there :) Then we had our group evaluations with the smoke, then the sheriffs car with lights and sirens, and then we had to escort them out of the arena. Then lastly it was time for the fun and games. We had to cross a tarp, put on a slicker, go over logs, cross a bridge, drag a tire, shake a milk jug full of rocks, and lastly got to play catch on horseback with a big ball :) My husband the true player, brought the boys with and took the pictures for me all well chasing our youngest around! At the end of the exams I got off in the arena and my 2 year old said it was his turn to ride, so we threw him up there and Marley took him for a nice short ride, it was a good way to unwind, he got right up there and took the reins and clucked to him and said walk! It was very cute and wish I had pictures of it. I won't know how we did for a few days but I will let you all know :)

Good luck with your results Dana. I'm sure you did great. I love to see and hear what you do with the mounted patrol training. Awesome stuff!
ReplyDeleteDana!! You and Marley are amazing!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE reading about your adventures...The mounted patrol training is AWSOME!! There is nothing that will phase Marley with all you are teaching him!!! It has been raining like crazy here too!!! Hope it dries up for you guys soon!!! When do you find out about the outcome of the testing?? Hugs from Sassy and me!
