Trot in the Cart

Since Donna Wilson asked about Nimue - it seemed like the perfect time to blog about the maven of harness and cart.  Poor girl, the last time we have had her out for a trot was a few days after Irene. We took a tour to check the damage here and there.

Dominic was along for the investigation too.

Some roads were not passable, so our normal loop was impossible.

Some roads we trotted up -- but treaded carefully !!

Here's our favorite mile hill road -- a great conditioning hill exactly a mile long.  We'd have conditioning of a different sort traveling this way.

You never know what to expect when you trot by this house full of mini poodles.  Nimue is pretty steady about a lot of what we meet with out on the road and trail, but she is especially calm about dogs of all sizes.  We actually passed it headed out and returning home, since our mile hill is washed out - the big loop was impossible to make today.

we took a trot down to the Bartonsville Covered bridge, which has been a feature in so many of our horseback rides and cart rides.  What a tragedy ! Unbelievably, the people who live right near the bridge caught it on tape !

Here's an older photo of Nimue approaching the bridge.   it was found 4 miles downstream.  There is a plan to rebuild.. I hope so !

Time to head home - after a round-a-bout of sight seeing.

Nimue is a fun little harness pony and we always have a super time when we take a trot out
with her :)  She pouts when she sees us riding -- and really wishes she could go out every
day !!   This is probably the main reason why she is for sale .. a Queen of carts such as Nimue should have the opportunity to shine as often as possible.

  1. Thank you Betsy!! Love Nimue - she's so awesome!! What a shame about the bridge and all of the damage in your area. Must be hard to see!! I do hope the make a nice new covered bridge. I've always been a lover of bridges!

  3. Your videos were great! Those little poodles were extremely annoying, but your scenery is beautiful. In the last video, i couldn't believe how GREEN it still is.

  6. Betsy, Your Minue cart pony is lovely. Your countryside is also lovely. Do you ever have trouble during the moose rut?
