65 Degrees and Lots of Energy!

We were so excited about having a great weather Saturday. Usually it is nice during the work week and nasty on the weekend here in Oklahoma:) Cody brought in All the Way May and Warrior's Cleopatra Friday in the hopes that we would be on the trail by noon. Best laid plans.......
We started out a little later than planned due to a wonderful late brunch at The Summit and then went out to load up the horses. Hoosier Daddy (Bruce) never has a problem putting a halter on except when the girls stay over and the big trailer is in the driveway. Cody haltered up Cleopatra - she really loves him and always wants to please. Bruce watched what was going on and decided to take a hike with tail totally up in the air galloping around my 10 acres. Most of you know that 10 acres is not a lot of land until you have to try to catch a horse!

Cody and Cleopatra have been working on tracking cattle and llamas, so Cody mounted up and drove Bruce into the round pen. I was so proud of both of them, calm and cool, but determined to get Bruce where he belonged. Here she is all tacked up and ready to go.

After a little bit of work in the round pen for Bruce, I put him in another pen for about 30 minutes to drink and cool down. He rolled and then had to get a rinse off before being loaded up.
The only reason we could do all this is that it got up to 65 DEGREES here today - just heaven!

So finally off to Lake Arcadia about 15 min. away and had a wonderful trail ride. There was only one other trailer at the trail head and they were gone when we got back. A relaxing, quiet ride.

We do let the horses graze a bit on the trail when they are good and when we tell them it is OK - I love any chance to show Cleopatra in pink - Cody doesn't seem to mind because that is her color!

I was so proud of Bruce and his wonderful water crossings (not his favorite thing).
All the Way May is staying in Edmond for a little "other rider" practice and Cody and Cleo got back to Chandler just in time for the freezing drizzle coming in later on tonight. Typical Oklahoma weather!

  1. Sounds like you guys had a nice ride! Lol at catching Bruce on 10 acres. 1 acre can seem huge when you're trying to catch a horse!

I can't believe you had 65 deg! That's insane after hearing about all the blizzards and snow everywhere else. What a breath of fresh air it must have been.
