Hey everyone,
With all the slip sliding weather....and even when its not slip sliding weather...I feel my curlies benefit from regular Chiropractic visits. It is a great opportunity to work with Sassy on ground manners and exposing to another human other than our family handling her .....*Sassy has quite the DISLIKE of Vets who do barn calls. Sassy's ground manners are lovely most of the time and are fine til ANY of the vets get close.....She is totally tolerant however of the chiro....so that led me to decide to change a bit of the order we do things in the herd....so....today we changed it up a bit...and took my other Curly KAllie-girl first...then turned her out to see how Sassy would react. She was a bit more high intensity when cross tied.....yet...,had little horsey heart floating as she was adjusted....but a couple of times...as the chiro would take a second to reposition ...she would paw the ground impatiently. Ears perked towards the pasture......Used the clicker and verbal request to redirect her pawing. That was quite successful!!! Filmed it..but not sure if ok to post......but did want to share what we worked on today!!

Krissy, if you felt Sassy learned something from this clicker sessiion and the chiro then go ahead and post the video. I would consider working with your horse through issues with vet, farrier etc., especially if it's YOU doing the training, worth of RAC posting. =] I think it's great and others might want to try that method too.
ReplyDeleteI love clicker training as well! But only with certain horses. I have horses that do extremely do good with it, and others simply don't care.
