Today was a great chance for me to work Linus with lots of distraction around. I took him out while the tractor was working on snow removal, my husband was around and the 3 dogs were playing. Usually it is just Linus and I so it was a great test of his focus! He was excited to get out, especially with a fresh blanket of snow on the ground! So I made him stand and wait patiently at the gate out of his outdoor pen and then he had to walk through it like a gentleman. We had a short, but successful longeing lesson. He went both directions with very little fuss! Then my husband took some long overdue pictures of Linus and I together. Mid-winter here in Canada so I am well bundled up!!
After our workout session I took Linus for a walk around the yard and into part of the pasture that wasn't too rough or icy. He enjoyed the frolic time. We didn't go out on the road today because they weren't in the greatest condition and I don't like having him out there when the cars have to take it easy as it is without having to worry about a young horse!
Guess who just rolled in the snow??
Oh yeah, the snow removal by a tractor ... isn't it funny that they are really anxious when it is removing snow but simply bump into it when it delivers they hay? :) Nice cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteDarling pics of you and Linus, Donna! Fresh snow is always fun to play in....sure helps with the footing too. =] Keep up the great work with your lovely boy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good training day! I was bundled to the hilt during my ride today, too...it's that time of year for us northerners, isn't it? I think fleece is the best invention since sliced bread.
