Didder and I meandered around on Sunday for a couple of hours. It was incredibly therapeutic, as my dear friend Betsy describes it. I breathed in the fresh, clean air and admired the views along the way.

We found a lot of obstacles, even though I really didn't intend to find them, so I guess today I get to have my cake and eat it too!We passed many pieces of heavy equipment. Obviously, I live in a red neck neighborhood. I really loved the irony of THIS sign, hanging in a big skidder out in the middle of the woods. Didder and I thumbed/hooved our noses at it. No riders, indeed!

Here is one of our many water crossings. It's that time of year. And, we crossed a bridge, but I didn't realize until after I got back and checked The List that it is supposed to be an arched bridge or a concrete bridge, and this one is metal. It gives me the creeps. I gave myself 25 imaginary points for this one. AhD didn't care, so he didn't get any.I also dinked around with our mailbox. I didn't think I should be dinking around with anyone else's. ("Hey, Ethel, come look at this! Some woman on this strange woolly horse is dinking around with our mailbox! And she's taking a picture of it! Where's my gun?!" ) AhD didn't really careabout the mailbox. He was waaay more concerned with how the plastic bag covering Dana's job trailer hitch was crinkling in the wind. I told him, "Negative points for THAT, Didder!" However, today he didn't seem to care much as we passed a house that ALWAYS gives him the jitters. I told him at that time he just earned 25 Susan/Didder personal points and a withers scratch for that one; it made me very happy. ;) I have my own point system in my head. Like Donna and Linus, some things are No Big Deal and then some stupid things are enough to make Didder's mane stand on end. Like the metal flapping in the wind on this delapidated barn roof.

Oh, I took a picture of the barn door I had him squeeze through, but then I didn't find that on the list, either.

I took this video from the top of a nearby hill on the powerline. I keep thinking of the famous quote, "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." How very true!

  1. I love your mailbox joke and the quote at the end of your post! Great ride! Even though they weren't on the list isn't it still great knowing your horse will do what you ask anyway? The new horse really makes me appreciate Linus even more. She's a beautiful mare who needs a lot of TLC. Just enforces my happiness in exposing Linus to so much so far.
