Cell phone, heavy equipment, water gun, hula hoop, umbrella.
Ok, sorry if I forget to delete that but if I don't put it there I will forget to write about it. Linus was mentally tired today when we were done. We did some challenges and then did some getting ready to be a riding horse training. I ended up with about double the amount of pictures I posted; nice change having to pick and choose!
There is a few seconds delay on my phone camera from me clicking and it taking. So this is a picture of Linus checking out the square baler. The chopper is right beside it creating a tight space about two horse lengths long. So of course I made him go through it!
Above picture shows my Dad on the 4wheeler pulling the chain harrows. You can also see the livestock trailer, hay wagon and manure spreader. All of which we checked out today close range! Also a good pic of his Ben d'Or spot! (and big rump!)
The umbrella chronicles:
I think I might owe my husband a new golf umbrella...Linus might have ripped this one while investigating it. I worked with it first while closed, with the keepers open and having such a windy day it was really a great obstacle and did a lot of flapping around. When opened it took some convincing to show Linus it wasn't going to eat him; which I what I wanted. He aced the challenge though by overcoming his uncertainty and accepting it.
The hula hoop is actually connected around him!! This one took a bit of work too because its a beaded hula hoop...made me proud of him!
Below: this was so cool, the hoop started at the base of his neck and he put his head down causing it to roll down his neck. Them he flicked his head out and the hula hoop went flying. The look on his face was like "wow, that was cool" so we did it a few more times
After our challenge work I put his bridle and bareback pad on him. I have not been able to find the yellow steps I used to lean over him a few weeks ago..will have to ask Dad where they went. May need to get a mounting block! I took Linus out and we practiced first on handling and softness with his halter on over the bridle. I knew he had a bit of P & V so doing some close in-hand work was a great building block for us. I usually get rid of this by a long walk. I made him respect me though and preferred doing it that way.
Then I tied up his lead rope and picked up the reins and while standing at his shoulder we continued doing some figure 8's and big circles. This was all done using the bit to control him and responded beautifully to me. We had a great session today!
Oh, nearly forgot (good thing I scrolled up to my reminders) Lynn emailed me while I was working with Linus. Emails come through on my phone so that caused a chime to go off. And my friend Fred called me while working with Linus which plays a loud, high energy song that has some fiddle to it. Its called the Martintown Song. It's a two stepping jig so thankfully Linus didn't feel the need to dance and stood patiently while I took the call!
Instead of a grey gelding coming he will be getting a sorrel mare for a companion tomorrow! Provided I can load her, she hasn't been on a trailer ever! Like Lynn said to me though, we will now have a matched pair!
You two are going to rock the socks off everyone else in this mini-contest! I think Linus had fun with that hoola hoop. Wonder how he is going to like his new companion mare?
ReplyDeleteWow Donna I am so impressed with your work on the obstacles and Linus is so great with it, great job!
ReplyDeleteHope the loading of the sorrel mare goes well and she will be a nice horse for your dad!
Hey get one of those bubble blower guns and try that out. By the way that is his right foot in.:)Looks like you had lots of fun. A couple of weeks ago I had mentioned to your Dad he should get a horse too, looks like the stern No was not that stern. Just like peanuts cant have just one. Looking forward to seeing two in the field. Catcha later.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out I don't know my right from left Karalee!! Lol...maybe I was referencing his left had already been in...or maybe next time you see us Owen will be telling which is which! :)
ReplyDeleteHe asked me if you knew about the new horse because of your comment a few weeks ago. But Mom only decided a week ago she wanted to get him a horse!
Wonderful job! What do you use the chain harrow for? I am afraid my mares would have the hula stuck around their fat? I can say the same about myself LOL
