"Click!" ~ *RCR Ah-D-Das in Maine

Today being Presidents Day, we had the opportunity to repeat our Back Street outing and gaiting lesson.

We had many more successful spells, and then, “click” the light bulb went off in his head and, voila! ~ we was gaitin’ fools!

The videos are from before the “I get it!” when he would still gait only a few strides before either breaking into a trot or back down into a fast walk, but listen to the rhythm of his hoof beats and notice the beginning stages of head nodding. He just doesn’t do it as well when I am taking a video because I hold my body in a slightly different position. I am hoping to post future videos as we improve our technique. Yee-haw, this is FUN!

  2. Congrats for learning something new...though something tells me learning new things is a great way to occupy Didder's busy personality!

  3. Susan I am so jealous you got out today. With no school I had to work and 8hr shift at my other job so no horse time all for me. I am so impressed with all you and Ah-d are accomplishing this year. Keep it up.

  4. Jessica, thank you, I love to watch that Curly mane fly around, too. Donna, you got it, Didder is an apt pupil. I might have finally found something to capture his interest. Zoe, it will be MY turn to be jealous of you tomorrow when I am sitting behind my desk all day! ;) Post something for me to read at lunchtime, ok?

  6. Caren, you didn't miss anything; I didn't "Name That Gait!" because I don't have a clue! ;) ha ha! Actually, it will probably become a fox trot, seeing as how his sire is *Kreskin.

  7. Sorry Susan-no horse time again today. Work at the school from 6:30 to 8:30 to the farm for lessons then back to work to go snow tubing with the kids.

Tomorrow I definitely plan to make up for it.

  10. Susan! All this time and I didn't know that Didder was possibly gaited?! My word. Is there a way to help a gaited horse learn to move forward into that gait? I don't know anything about gaited horses!
