Hello From England

Hi,

Im new this year to RAC, so i would like to start by introducing myself. Im Sarah, and i own Echo a 6 year old curly. Im based over the pond in England, and im very excited about the competion as there are not many curlies yet over here, but we are growing thanks to our uk breeder. It's great to find so many curly people in one place, so prepare yourself to be bombarded with lots of curly questions. Its also interesting to see how things are done differently over here in the uk. You guy's just get on with things when the snow is around, we get 1mm and we go into panic mode.

Ive owned Echo for 2 years, i wanted to do dressage with him, but he isn't to fond of schooling, so this year we are going to have a go at le trec. He likes to hack, which i think you guys call "trail" (going to need some help with the lingo). We are going to try and improve our schooling, so we are also going to try and put more hours into the arena. We are hoping to get out more this year, as we tried our hand at showing last year but i find it hard to find classes for Echo to enter over here.

We have had some snow again this morning, which will put our riding off again now until it has cleared in a few days... so I look forward to reading a few more posts from everyone until I'm back in the saddle.

  1. Echo is gorgeous! I love dapple grays. I think you ought to start a trend and ride in the snow. Should gain you a lot of attention to promote Curlies!

  2. Welcome Sarah! It is so fabulous to see so many curly owners from "over the pond" (I like that term! lol) involved in this year's RAC!! Echo is so beautiful..I love the pic of you both! My horse is the same way regarding schooling, it took time and even still he prefers the trail. We look forward to hearing all your adventures this year!! Thanks for posting!

  5. Hello Sarah, what a lovely picture of Echo. Is his full name Shenval Echo? In this case I have seen him as a foal. I imported my first Curly Shenval Glenlivet (Glen) 5 years ago from Scotland. The picture of Echo reminds me of my Glen! I am looking forward to reading more about your rides!

  11. Thankyou everyone, what lovely comments from you all. Jessica, yes he is a Shenvel boy. lol. A group of owners over here have just started BCHAPS as we have found it difficult in the past as there is not very much happening over here for the curlies, so we have got togther to try and bring the breed to everyones attention. We did an expo at Your Horse Live, ive spent a lot of time begging magazines to run articles for us, which as been really successful. Do you have pictures of Glen, were do you live, another curly owner has really been interested in tracing owners of the uk curlies, im not sure if she found you, but i will be her favourite person now I have.

Curlyhorse cmt, there are two breeders over in the uk, Dunn Deal, and Trevor Hall Farm Stud.

Echo is 14.3hh, im not sure if he will grow any more, i would like another hand, but the only thing thats growing is his tummy!!

Adria- Im in North Yorkshire, York, great part of the country.

  12. Hi Sarah! Excellent to have you join our groupl Echo is one handsome, well put together boy...he looks a lot taller than 14.3. Is he a stallion and that's why it is hard to find classes for show or due to lack of venues for curlies?

Ha ha, I have a few who aren't as fond their of schooling either, so I look forward to hearing how the two of you enjoy your le trec.
