"Yes!!!!!!!" That's what I said this morning about 7:30 after I received an e-mail that I could buy a Curly that I had looked at back in November. Long story short I had committed to buy "Mister Tygs" and then quite a few things happened that hit us hard financially and I had to back out. After I backed out the owner took him off the market. I was bummed, but what could I do? After I started my search again, Tygs kept coming to my mind and I finally took the chance yesterday and e-mailed his owner and told her I was back in the market and still interested if she should change her mind. And you know the rest of the story. I am elated!!!!!!
I visited him twice, once with Denise and another time with another friend who will help me with training. Tygs is 8 years old, soon to be 9 in April, and hasn't been saddle trained yet, but he totally trusts humans and has been taught to be led, pick up his feet, be touched all over, lower his head. Denise initially went and evaluated him with her daughter Tracy and they taught him to follow at a trot and the lunging pattern in a short period of time. When I went to visit a week later, he remembered everything Denise had taught him. I don't remember his pedigree, but he's ABC registered. Maybe Denise can add to this post and let us know what his pedigree is. I know there is some Arab back in there. As you can see he is a straight Curly, and is absolutely gorgeous! I'm not prejudice at all, now am I? He's what I was looking for. It's real cold here, so I'm not sure when he'll come home, but as soon as he does, you all will know it!
This picture is with Tracy teaching him to follow at a trot.

And I love that first picture...
You guys sound like a great match and I really look forward to reading about your adventures with Tygs this year.
I wondered what happened to you buying this horse! Congratulations Janeen! He is gorgeous! It will be wonderful to hear your future successful training stories!
ReplyDeleteTo keep within "blogging guidelines" (smile), let me just add that Janeen did a mighty fine job of working with Tygs, lunging and trotting in hand as well....they will be doing alot of ground work prior to saddle training I am sure and I hope janeen will share all of that with us when he comes home!! Tygs is out of our old stallion, *Willow Creek Cal me Mr., who is now a gelding in Quebec and his dam is from the AL Marah curly/arab crosses. So this boy comes with brains, beauty and performance lines! I am SOOO excited for you Janeen!! I look forward to a great summer watching the two of you!
ReplyDeletep.s. I added the little video of him for you, Janeen for people to see that Tracy and I took for his sales ad. =] I hadn't deleted it yet! =]
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise, for helping me stay within "blogging guidelines." I'm sure once I have a horse to work with it will be a little easier. Thanks for the clarification of his dam and sire and the video too!
