Trust

I haven't had much time to work with Tygs because I've had too much work, but I always go out every day just to say hello at least. Today I got it in my head that I was going to see how Tygs would do with a blanket covering him and how far I could get it up over his head and he did very well! I knew he would do it in my heart.

I've also been asking him to touch the mailbox ever since he reacted the first day to it and sometimes I have to ask a few times, but he always does it.

He is definitely getting the idea of yielding his front quarters and he always impresses me. A couple days ago I went out just to groom the horses and all my other horses know not to be bossy with whatever horse I'm working on, because I'm the leader when I'm out there, but Tygs was trying the first time I did that with him here, but after a few "conversations" with him about it, he hasn't done it since. I felt bad that day because I really wasn't working with him, but later I realized he did learn something that day, that I was the boss.

I'm hoping everyone is faring well that's been affected by the storm. It's cold here, so it was another short day. Until the next time, Janeen and Tygs

  1. Tygs is so pretty! Isn't it funny how they know who is boss? Marley was chasing our minis around I could see from the kitchen window and all he had to do was see me and he quit what he was doing :)

  4. Janeen, what perfect timing to teach Tygs to accept a blanket! He will be begging you to wrap him up good and tight when the cold gets deeper. LOL
I have a thought on the mail box thing .. you might try a slight of hand so when he touches the mail box he gets a treat and then you could advance it to opening the mailbox where the treat is that he can retrieve himself -- of course being a curly he will soon be visiting and opening everybodies mailboxes looking for treats but hey, he won;t be nervous of them anymore.

  8. Good job with the blanket. I started Linus with that too and you can now hang anything off of him anywhere. I agree with the mailbox comment. Watch out!! Before you know it they have to inspect every single one they see!!!
